Call for Participants for our Winter School 2026

This year, we will dive deep into the topic of Ukrainian Migration in Europe and Globally in the 20th and 21st Century. During the week between 23 – 27 March 2026, Ukrainische Freie Universität in Munich will host exciting lectures, presentations, panel discussions and become a place for new connections.

MA and PhD students, and professionals from social institutions and media who have an interest in exploring the fundamental historical, cultural, and social contexts of Ukraine and its neighboring regions are welcome to apply.

Travel and subsistence costs will be covered by the organizers, we charge a fee of 50 € for participation.

This Winter School is a joint initiative of the Center for Interdisciplinary Ukrainian Studies – “Denkraum Ukraine” at the @Universität Regensburg, financed by the @DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) through the funds from the Federal Foreign Office (AA), the @Ukrainian Free University (UFU, Munich), the @Bukowina Institut at the @University of Augsburg, the @Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and the IOS Regensburg.

„FREEDOM IN THE EQUATION“: Ausstellung über die verlorenen Nobelpreise der Ukraine an der Ukrainischen Freien Universität eröffnet

Am 1. Juli wurde an der UFU die einzigartige Ausstellung „Freedom in the Equation – Verlorene Nobelpreise“ eröffnet. Dieses Projekt ist weit mehr als eine historische Chronik. Es ist ein Akt der Wiederherstellung historischer Gerechtigkeit und würdigt zehn herausragende ukrainische Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler, deren Potenzial durch den sowjetischen Totalitarismus und die heutige russische Aggression brutal zerstört wurde.
