Screening of Denys Khrystov’s film “1% of War” at UFU

The film “1% of War” by Denys Khrystov is a short yet powerful documentary consisting of several stories connected by a single location, a single time frame, and a single war. The film features evacuations of various people — and not just people — that took place in the Avdiivka direction during the final days of the battle for this city.

At the center of the stories are residents of front-line settlements who, for various reasons, delayed their departure until the last moment and eventually decided to leave the remnants of their homes and cities, heading into complete uncertainty.
Those who attend this event will have the opportunity not only to watch the film before its official release but also to chat with Den, ask questions, and hear the rest of the stories firsthand. Den’s stories are diverse, ranging from touching to humorous. Even in places very close to combat zones, life remains multifaceted. One of the stories in this film is about the evacuation of a severely wounded soldier whom Den accidentally encountered. It was thanks to his presence at that exact time and place that the soldier’s life was saved. The goal of these screenings is to raise funds for his rehabilitation.
This short film will leave viewers with a wide range of different emotions, but at its core, all these stories are about rescue.
The event is bilingual: the film is in Ukrainian with German subtitles, and the discussion is translated into German.
The screening and discussion of the film will take place on 28.11 at 17:00 (Munich) at UFU in the Hörsaal auditorium, Kaulbachstraße 31/33, 80539 München, Hochschule für Philosophie building.
